L ' ' Aikido is a martial art? Part III-Conclusion.

The manufactured

In parts one and two articles I have covered the ' introduction of Aikido to the West, and the ' impact on other martial artists, Aikido and developed in the United Kingdom progressed from existing dojo visit all the various martial arts and offering to demonstrate and teach for free in the hope of starting a small class in dojo more receptiveas you can imagine that this was an easy task because most of the time our efforts were not an open invitation to most dojo. At the end of the first positive style Aikido as a reality, and this is a very important point to make in the early development of the Western Aikido is that most new Aikido students came from other martial arts. I don't think we could convert other Aikido martial artists if it had not been so strong and effective.

L ' bad breath!

I made reference to the numerous changes in Aikido in the last 46 years of its history and training of choreography and Ki Aikido and also many of the world of Harry Potter ' Aikido, as a direct consequence of these articles have been contacted by a student of Aikido in the United Kingdom said that they had now stopped training in Aikidobecause his teacher said it was time to go and teach students " to breathe through your toes ".

Lets Dance

The most important of all the changes that have taken place over the last 46 years need to be changes in technique and its application, the first style of Aikido was very compact and powerful. Since its introduction in the United Kingdom, has always been taught Aikido as a martial art circular movement with Bulls at the center of each movement. As Uke (the attacker ') made its attack, Tori would turn in his circle that allows you to make the technique in a very small area of perhaps four square meters. Nowadays, the fantasy aikidoist need a football field. I saw some so-called twirling Uke " " masters around the end of a finger and pirouettes several times before being cast the ' entire length of the carpet.

Harmonise

Kenshiro Abbe Sensei always taught that Uke " go " only if the technique was effective. I hear often and I saw some of these people who say they could project an opponent without touching them, and sometimes by breathing and by projecting their " Ki ". You can't do that if someone is attacking on balance, I've never seen anyone do this to my students. Of course if they stick on balance then you'll be accused of " Not " harmonization.

Aikido for Real

I read various accounts of the first Americans to practice Aikido in the early 60 '. There were Americans practicing Aikido in the United Kingdom at the end of the 1950 al "The Hut " L " ' Abbot School of Budo. The Americans were members of the USAF stationed in the United Kingdom. they were always in discussion As I would " work? frequently end up " and us in the parking lot of refuge after classes and engage in some real Aikido. Then everyone would be in a good mood and have a few beers.

Sunday mornings were always the best practice sessions with the doors locked, but the dojo be all Dan grades. It was then that Dan grades would fight each other for real. This was the only way to evaluate ' really your technique. Once, I was struggling with master Ken Williams (The British National Coach) hit me hard and I went down clutching his chest and complaining loudly in agony. You knew that I did not go down and I've never made a fuss, so now everyone cared for me and as Sensei Williams leaned over me asking: " Harry, you're well " I lashed with a punch to the head, just doing a contact watching, then stepped back and I was kicked in the head ending my cunning.

The smallest of all Dan grades was Eric Dollimore ·, was only 5 ft-6in in height and about 130 pounds. I always thought that Eric I was avoiding these morning sessions on Sunday, as he was about to leave the carpet I told him, you'd " Eric try against me ", has just turned and said " sorry Harry, I have to be my friends home for lunch ". While leaving the mat I smile and I thought to myself " This is what I expected " the welcome didn't last long, as I heard a voice behind me say " OK then Harry, we can do quickly because I have to go via ". And ' was Eric, for a moment I was surprised then I thought to myself if you want fast I will welcome you. I moved to take him out with his fist, and the next thing I knew I had crossed the dojo wall partition Office and I was still lying stunned the Office when I heard a voice call out Eric " see Harry Monday, I have to go ". And ' was a very important lesson for me, I never underestimated anyone from when the little guy taught me a lesson.
