L ' ' Aikido is a martial art? Second Part:

In my previous article, I attempted to establish hard style of Aikido which was introduced to the West in 1950. I would like to underline the fact that I have any satisfaction from publicly criticize Aikido and I have much less satisfaction when I see Aikido to be ridiculed.

To continue from one side ...

Hard training

Training and exercises in those early times were very hard and physical style of karate with kicks and punches an integral part of our heating, followed by 200 pushups on the back of the wrist, fingers pointing towards the inside ' and ' exterior, very often, while you were in the lifted position Abbe Sensei instruct another student to sit on your backas we were the only group of ' five Dan ranks in the United Kingdom and throughout the dojo itself then this was the formation in all dojo d ' Aikido in the United Kingdom and today we are the only organization of Aikido ' still doing these downturns.

Purists say " these inflections are bad for you " what really means is that they can do, all this is part of the ' weakening of traditional Aikido.

Choreography

Aikidoists are often accused of practicing Aikido choreography " " and to be honest I must admit that these allegations are very often justified, with Uke (attacker) prepares to break down well before he makes his attack, and most of them attack off balance, then any multiple of techniques possible with minimal effort and, of courseThis makes Tori (Defender) " " look fantastic.

What is really sad is that these people believe that this is a good Aikido. Kenshiro Abbe Sensei always said to us that " two " training students at the same time, it is that Uke is learning and improving its techniques of offense and his opponent Tori is also the ' learning and improve its defence techniques, while there we trained with Abbe Sensei if uke's foot or the heel came off the mat as he attacked the master Abbe would offend a good leg shot with a shinai (bamboo sword) who would then say: " my English is bad, but my shinai speaks fluently! ".

If Uke attacks in equilibrium, then it is clear that the technique of bulls must be good and strong to launch him, and as Master Abbe said so many times " are two " training students. Mark Eastman a strong degree Dan young with me recently went to a seminar where c ' was a 6° dan. The 6° dan refused to use it as Uke stating " can't use it as not blend well with me ", he was not only inconvenient or difficult attack on balance.

Diluted training

Today all these exercises and traditional training methods have changed to a simple warm-up routine with jumping up and down in place and a lot of deep spiritual discussions. intense exercise is now considered to be aggressive and not in harmony with the true spirit of Aikido '.

Abbe Sensei said that education has developed the hard spirit, indicated also Ki during those early days, as demonstrated by the power of his technique, when asked to explain the meaning of Ki, said not to worry as this would be a Ki part of our training and development.

He then said: " Only when you reach the first Dan you will be able to understand the true concept of Ki as a further extension of your Aikido. " I still believe that the line of thought, and the instructors of our dojo very rarely talk about Ki although is taught as an integral and important part of our training and study.

Ki Aikido

Although it is generally recognized as Ki spirit and breathing during the ' application of the technique, each teacher and student will offer a very wide and varied and sometimes bizarre interpretation of the meaning of this word is so overused. The main problems arise and are created by the same teachers, which very often mislead their students to the extent that they almost believe that Ki is a form of magic. The following is an excellent example of a very important Aikido section letters journals.

Title: The Spirit of Protection

I am a Carpenter and 2 kyu Aikido. I was working in a large new house doing a repair job, I had finished my work and was heading towards a long stairway, when I noticed two owners son of years was heading towards the same stairs from the opposite direction. While approached the top of the ladder that I was looking at, and not where it was going. I was too far away to grab it, then I turned to him (irimi) and slipped his arm straight to him, my " Ki " crossed face kids ' and the back of his head, fell to ' back and started to cry. The mother heard him crying and climbed the stairs, when I told her what had happened, she thanked me, I said I thank " thanks " Aikido.

That poor girl could now be disturbed as the writer.

Harry Potter Ryu

There are many misleading examples which I will refer in the next articles, is this kind of nonsense that casts doubt on the credibility Aikidos Are fully aware that every martial art has its own version of Harry Potter " " in their ranks, what I fail to understand is that there are more of them in all other Aikido martial arts combined.

The reason why I'm so critical and vociferous on Aikido is that every day I see these people water down this great martial art that I have spent most of my life studying, teaching and promoting ' for the past 46 years. I often get asked " Sensei, who do you think is the best and worst " martial art.

I do always the same answer: " all martial arts are good, if c ' is a problem with any martial art, then it may be only the people who represent that particular art that distort their art.
